PayGate / Features

Everything your checkout should be able to do

Three kinds of rules, 20 conditions, and the tools to check every rule before a customer sees it. All inside your Shopify admin.

01 · Payment rules

Show each customer the right ways to pay

Control which payment methods customers see, what they're called and which come first. Methods are matched by name: equals, contains or doesn't contain.

  • Hide methods when your conditions are met
  • Only show methods when they're met, and hide them at every other checkout
  • Rename methods, for example “Bank Deposit” to “Bank transfer”
  • Reorder methods by moving chosen ones to the top
02 · Shipping rules

Delivery options that make sense for the order

Decide which shipping methods appear and make them easier to choose. Match methods by name, or by price: free, exactly, at most, at least or between two amounts.

  • Hide methods, such as free shipping below your minimum
  • Rename methods, for example to add delivery times
  • Reorder methods by drag and drop
  • A live preview with your store's own rates
  • The cheapest option stays first and selected, as Shopify requires
03 · Checkout rules

Stop the orders you can't fulfil

Block checkout with a message that tells the customer exactly what to fix, shown on the exact field.

  • Block checkout when conditions are met, such as a minimum order
  • Require a field: phone, company, ZIP or apartment
  • Block PO box addresses
  • Check postcode formats for selected countries
  • Address checks run when the customer clicks Pay, and skip local pickup
04 · Conditions

20 conditions, combined your way

Use AND inside a group (all must be true) and OR between groups. With no conditions, a rule applies to every checkout. Amounts are entered in your store's currency and converted at checkout.

Cart

  • Cart total and subtotal
  • Number of items
  • Cart weight
  • Specific products
  • Collections
  • Product tags
  • Gift card in cart
  • Subscription in cart
  • Discount applied

Customer

  • Customer tags
  • Logged in or guest
  • Previous orders
  • B2B customer

Shipping

  • Country
  • State or province
  • City
  • ZIP or postcode
  • Selected shipping method
  • Delivery type (shipping, pickup, local delivery…)

Shipping rules can't use the selected shipping method or delivery type (the options are decided before the customer picks one), and checkout rules don't use collections.

05 · Testing

Know what a rule does before customers see it

Enter a sample cart, customer and address in Test this rule and see which conditions pass, which methods are hidden, renamed or moved, and why. Shipping rules have a live Preview with your store's rates.

  • Uses the same code that runs at checkout
  • A plain-English summary of every rule
  • Save a rule as Inactive and switch it on later
  • Changes reach new checkouts within seconds of saving
06 · Templates

46 ready-made rules

Every template opens a pre-filled editor. What PayGate can know, such as your store's country, is filled in; amounts and tags are left for you, so nothing is set in the wrong currency.

  • Cash on Delivery: fees, countries, order limits, risky orders
  • Payment: B2B bank transfer, Buy Now Pay Later thresholds, express wallets
  • Shipping: free shipping minimums, freight, express for VIPs
  • Checkout: PO boxes, required fields, postcodes, minimums

07 · Guardrails

Designed so checkout keeps working

  • If a rule would hide every payment or shipping method, it hides none
  • If a checkout rule can't run (for example, during a Shopify outage), checkout isn't blocked
  • Editors list other active rules that affect the same methods
  • A warning when a shipping name is entered in a payment rule
  • Duplicated rules start Inactive
  • A meter for Shopify's limit of 25 active payment and 25 active checkout rules
08 · Built on Shopify

Native to Shopify checkout

PayGate's rules run as Shopify Functions, on Shopify's own servers, during checkout. Your rules are saved in your Shopify store, and there's nothing to add to your theme.

  • Customer details at checkout never reach our servers
  • Billing through your Shopify invoice
  • Uninstall at any time: the rules stop running straight away
  • Hiding only an express wallet button needs Shopify Plus
